facebook is decreasing the ‘wearability’ of my wardrobe...

I Blame facebook…

Well I blame facebook for many things.

So here I am blogging about this global social phenomenon and the sad influence it has over my life.

The other day whilst showering (it’s under the shower secretly wasting water that I ponder over life) I began battling a serious dilemma.

The type of dilemma that haunts a lady like nothing else…

No, I’m not talking about those ignorant friends that tag hideous drunk photos of you looking like a walrus.  I’ll save that for another edition of ‘I Blame facebook’.

It’s the dilemma that strains the very core of a woman’s being…

I need a dress for a wedding… well 2 weddings, in different states but both in the one weekend.
And here’s the clinger… it’s needs to be an outfit that you ‘cannot’ find me already wearing in photos on facebook.

All the understanding ladies, single or not, put your hands up if you feel me!

Before the times of digital cameras and social media I could wear my adored outfits ‘strategically’ over and over.  If I wanted to repeat wear I’d make sure it was amongst a different group of friends, interstate, overseas etc.  There would always be a way to get my moneys worth.

Then facebook came along and shot a hole through my strategy and my credit card.

I could be wearing my superb (over the credit limit) frock to a wedding in the outback amongst free roaming kangaroos and wombats, yet I’m guaranteed to see these photos on facebook within 48 hours.

So tell me how do I then wear it to my girlfriends 30th birthday bash a month down the track, which of course will be captured on camera then publicised on FB?

And to be honest special occasion or not, your daily grind outfits are on splash too i.e. pizza and wine night with the girls almost always turns into snaps of  ‘look at us we’re drinking wine and eating’ uploaded to facebook.  Exciting stuff.

Totally vain and superficial?  Yes of course, I can’t deny this, but I know there are woman worldwide that can relate.

If I had an ounce of ‘screw social media and its downfalls’ I’d follow a dear friends recent decision to wear the same dress to three different weddings almost back-to-back.  If you look at her tagged photo’s you’d think she attended one mammoth Greek wedding lol.

In short facebook is decreasing the ‘wearability’ of my wardrobe.

What are your thoughts on setting up a ‘facebook outfits anonymous’ group, kind of like a monthly swap meet for ‘facebook worn clothes’ and the fear of ever being seen in them again?

On second thoughts along with my vanity and superficiality I am a ‘hoarder’, so this really won’t work for me ;-) ©

By the way i do get away with it from time to time...

Same outfit... Last week and last year ;-)

Yours truly... Miss Waldeck
